The
first Broken Shoulder sessins were conceived when he was out of action
with a broken shoulder...he looked
to create an ugly sister to his work with FK. Stripping away the
bleeping beauty of his dayjob to create this LO-TRON monster.
Mechanical hums and organic rhythms, "Broken Shoulderrr" carries a
metallic coldness with a heart of gold.
Though perhaps not obvious on a first listen, “Broken Shoulderrr” is
far more accessible and layered than Debnam expected or intended,
melodies continued to creep into the work during the improvised stage
of its recording, however fleeting or dissonant they might have been.
Crawling ambience and crushing distortion fading and floundering around
Broken Shoulder’s digital do-re-mi (and he shreds like Thurston Moore)
in this challenging and cinematic sounding record. It’s hard to tell if
Broken Shoulder was a long-term vision or if he just covered himself in
paint and jumped on the canvas but the outcome is gorgeous and
completely unlike any Audio Antihero release to come before.
“Broken Shoulderrr”: a Lo-Tron collection of noises, ditties and
misplaced notes sewn together by fuzz and feedback. It’s a unique
record that evolves with each listen and has a shelf life longer than
UHT milk.
